Analysis of Poem: It is Dangerous to Read Newspapers
The central theme of Margaret Atwood’s ”It is Dangerous to Read Newspapers” is innocence contrasted with evil, and the possible connections between the two. The connection by means of which evil can become known to the innocent is via the newspapers, hence the title of the poem. While the innocent child is oblivious to evil in the world, reading newspapers gives knowledge of this evil to the well-meaning adult.
